Burning River Boat Parade

Remember Cleveland’s ‘burning river’ 50 years ago? In celebration of its restoration, the Burning River Boat Parade will feature 50+ decorated parade boats supporting City of Cleveland’s Cuyahoga 50 initiative. Parade participants will receive a commemorative burgee.  Also boats will be judged within their respective class to receive a show award.

WHEN?  Saturday June 22, 2019 approximately 9:30 pm (rain or shine).

WHERE?  Boats will assemble by 8:30 pm in the inner harbor western basin  (41,29.976’N 081,43.525’W) north of Whiskey Island, cruise upstream to the Merwin’s Wharf, and return to the inner harbor.

WHO?  The parade is organized by the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association (LEMTA), in association with Jacobs Entertainment /Nautica, and the United States Power Squadrons.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?  Power boats and powered sail boats (excluding paddlecraft and personal watercraft) with  a maximum of 100 boats will be selected by the organizers. To participate, you must register at www.lemta.com.  Safety Patrol Boats also are needed. ACTIVITIES AND CONTACTS FOR THE BURNING RIVER BOAT PARADE SATURDAY JUNE 22, 2019 – 9:30 PM

To participate in the parade you must:

• Register your boat by June 15, 2019 at www.lemta.com
• Have a valid boat registration, certificate of insurance, and ODNR-required safety equipment onboard during the parade
• Be available to assemble for the parade in the inner harbor by 8:30 pm on Saturday June 22, 2019
• VHF radios are recommended but not required
• All vessels will be assembled in procession by the Parade Marshal and Safety Boat Commander
• Due to State and Federal boating regulations, paddlecraft (kayaks, SUPs, etc.) and personal watercraft (‘Jet Skis’) are not allowed to participate in the parade and will be monitored by Law Enforcement
